New Delhi: When people of Delhi-NCR woke up on Sunday morning, the weather took a turn. The weather became pleasant in Delhi and surrounding areas with light rain and thundershowers that started from the night. This rain has given good relief to the people from the increasing heat of many days.
According to the Meteorological Department, an orange alert has been issued in view of the possibility of rain along with strong winds and lightning in the capital.
IMD has issued orange alert for Delhi. This means there is a possibility of moderate rain, lightning and strong gusty winds. At around 7:30 in the morning, the temperature at Safdarjung Observatory was recorded at around 22 degrees Celsius. A slight coolness is also being felt due to the winds blowing along with the rain.

There is an orange alert for Delhi and Ghaziabad, while a yellow alert has been issued in Noida. According to IMD, there may be light to moderate rain in these areas and the wind speed will be less than 40 km/hr. There is a yellow alert-like situation in Gurugram also.
Meteorologists say that yes, this could be the first pre-monsoon rain of this season. Meteorologist Mahesh Palawat is saying that the Western Disturbance is moving towards the Western Himalayas, which has caused cyclonic activity in Pakistan and neighboring Punjab-Haryana region.

Due to the effect of this system, there may be rain in many areas of Delhi, Haryana and Punjab for the next two days. Usually pre-monsoon rains come a little late, but this time it has come about 10 days earlier.
According to the meteorological department's estimate, the minimum temperature may remain between 14 to 16 degrees Celsius till Monday. The maximum temperature will be around 31 to 33 degrees.
Currently, due to clouds and rain, the people of Delhi-NCR have got relief from the heat. But the IMD has advised caution during lightning and strong winds – carry an umbrella when going out, and do not stay in the open for too long.
